Workshop Service Technician / Mechanic

Opportunity

Due to continued growth, we are expanding our team and seeking an experienced Workshop Service Technician/Mechanic to join our friendly and supportive Wetherill Park workshop. In this role, you will be responsible for the commissioning, servicing, maintenance, and repair of Normet underground mining equipment.

Key responsibilities

Conducting commissioning, servicing and repairs of Normet and clients underground machines:

• Modification and/or repair of vehicle systems including: chassis’, drivelines, engines, transmissions, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrics.

• Manufacturing and fitting of electrical and mechanical components.

• Testing and adjusting of all mechanical hydraulics, circuits and pneumatic components.

• Fault finding, repairing, replacing, and providing technical advice.

• Cutting, grinding, drilling, welding, manufacturing of small components and fitting them to machines.

What we offer

• Competitive hourly rate of $60 - $62 per hour (flat rate) plus superannuation paid on all hours worked.

• Workshop based role - be home every night to enjoy time with family and friends, working between 38 - 55 hours per week, Monday to Friday with Saturday work on occasions.

About you

• Relevant Trade qualifications (Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or Certificate III in Engineering – Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic)

• 3 years of industry experience

• Experience in modification and repairs of heavy mobile equipment is desirable 

• Strong mechanical knowledge and experience

• Ability to read CAD engineer drawings, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical schematics.

• High level of problem solving and diagnostic skills.

• Experience with can-bus systems is highly desirable.

• You will have full working rights in Australia, please note visa sponsorship is not on offer at this time.

• You will have the ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and obtain a National Police Clearance.
