ABOUT THE SCHOOL
St Lucy’s School is a K-12 School situated in Wahroonga on Sydney’s North Shore. The School currently enrols 242 students Including satellite classes and further growth in these classes is anticipated. All students are supported by a dedicated team of teachers, teacher's aides, therapists, and creative artists. St Lucy’s caters to a broad range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities (mild to severe), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and sensory impairments.
St Lucy’s fosters a love of learning, respect for aesthetics, and the Gospel values of truth, justice, inclusion, and joy. The School’s holistic approach nurtures each child’s spiritual, social, intellectual, and creative development, recognising their unique gifts. Drawing on the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy, we focus on communication, social engagement, independence, technology, literacy, and numeracy, supported by specialist staff and creative programs.
We follow the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) K–12 syllabuses differentiating for diverse needs of our students. We provide integrated programs across literacy, numeracy, technology, creative arts, science, VET and personal development. Our Therapy Team – including speech pathologists and occupational therapists – works collaboratively to maximise access to learning and enrichment.
We are committed to inclusion through a range of programs as well as opportunities for mainstream integration through our satellite program. Spiritual growth is fostered through liturgical celebrations, classroom prayer, and a Religious Education curriculum. Pastoral care extends to families, offering both structured and individual support
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Deputy Principal for the commencement of 2027. The Deputy Principal will play a key strategic leadership role in fostering a high-performing, inclusive and supportive school environment. This position will focus on enhancing student outcomes through the development of staff capability, wellbeing and professional practice, while nurturing a positive and collaborative school culture.
The role will support school improvement by strengthening teaching and learning through effective staff development, instructional leadership, and a strong focus on professional growth. It promotes a culture of reflection, collaboration and continuous improvement, ensuring that all staff are supported to perform at their best and contribute to a shared community of practice.
The role will oversee key educational operations across the school ensuring the effective organisation and delivery of teaching and learning programs. This includes leadership and oversight of whole-school timetabling and rostering, major school events and activities and the management of risk assessment processes to support safe, compliant and successful educational experiences.

To be successful for this role, the following experience, skills and attributes are essential.:
Accreditation at the Proficient Teacher level or above, with relevant leadership qualifications and/or professional learning in educational leadership.
Being able to deputise for the Principal during periods of absence and serving as a trusted advisor to the Principal providing strategic counsel and support.
Demonstrated experience in mentoring and coaching staff to improve performance and build capacity.
Strong leadership skills, with experience in leading change and fostering a positive organisational culture.
Understanding of performance management, professional standards and accreditation processes.
Experience in workforce planning, staff wellbeing and organisational development.
Strong collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively across all areas of school leadership and staff.
Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills and proven ability to engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
Demonstrate and possess highly developed organisational, administrative and strategic skills.
Display a high degree of integrity, accountability and efficiency in the carrying out of the duties.
Be approachable and responsive to all members of staff.
A knowledge of budgetary processes and financial management processes.
The following experience, skills and attributes are desirable.:
Experience in special education, the disability sector or inclusive education.
