We are committed to enhancing the quality of life of people living with disabilities by providing safe, person-centred accommodation and support services that promote independence, wellbeing and community participation. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our team and oversee meal preparation and kitchen operations across our Supported Independent Living residences.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and preparing nutritious, high-quality meals tailored to the diverse dietary, cultural, medical and personal needs of NDIS participants while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. Task & responsibilities Plan, prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals, snacks and special dietary meals for NDIS participants. Develop and update menus that accommodate individual dietary requirements, allergies, cultural preferences and medical conditions. Estimate food and labour costs and assist in maintaining kitchen budgets.
Order, receive and manage food supplies and kitchen inventory. Monitor food quality, presentation and portion control standards. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
Supervise and coordinate kitchen assistants and support staff involved in meal preparation. Train kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, food safety procedures and kitchen operations. Inspect food preparation areas, equipment and storage facilities to ensure cleanliness and compliance.
Minimise food wastage and implement efficient stock control practices. Liaise with participants, support workers and management regarding meal preferences and nutritional requirements. Maintain accurate food safety records, temperature logs and cleaning schedules.
Qualification & experience Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Diploma of Hospitality Management or equivalent qualification. At least one years of relevant experience as a Chef. Strong knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen operations.
Experience preparing meals for individuals with diverse dietary and medical requirements is highly regarded. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary care environment.
