HSEQ Specialist - Dangerous Goods

We are seeking an experienced HSEQ Specialist – Dangerous Goods to support our operations and drive a strong safety culture across key contracts.

This is a fixed term contract until the end of June 2027.

Location: Gladstone, QLD

The Opportunity:

This role is responsible for leading HSEQ activities for our largest national specialised dangerous goods contracts, supporting operational teams, and ensuring compliance with HSEQ systems, legislation and contract requirements. You will play a critical role in promoting safe work practices, driving proactive risk management and contributing to a positive, engaged safety culture across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate all HSEQ activities for our major Dangerous Goods contracts portfolio nationally.
• Support delivery of the HSEQ Strategic and Tactical Plans and implement actions to achieve key objectives.
• Train and coach Operations teams in hazard identification, incident reporting, HSEQ processes and HSE tools (Take 5, CRAs/CRIs, JSAs, Permit to Work).
• Foster a positive HSEQ culture through engagement, mentoring and effective communication.
• Participate in safety inspections, risk assessments, job safety analyses and critical risk management activities.
• Review and maintain the HSEQ Risk Register and support operational reviews.
• Assist with development, review and implementation of procedures and safe work practices.
• Support activities to prevent workplace injury, disease and ill health, and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Conduct and support internal audits and external audit processes.
• Support and participate in emergency preparedness and response requirements.
• Lead incident investigations and prepare relevant HSE Alerts and Learnings.
• Ensure accuracy and quality of Myosh data and implement actions from investigations, audits and inspections.
• Liaise with regulators and complete required reporting.
• Provide HSE content for Toolbox Talks, HSE Meetings and operations forums.
• Prepare and report on HSE lead and lag indicators.
• Provide HSE information for tenders, customer enquiries and contract obligations.
• Engage with HSRs, supervisors and managers to support compliance and best practice.

Skills and Experience:

• Tertiary HSE qualification (e.g. OSH Diploma/Advanced Diploma (VET)).
• 7–10 years’ experience in HSEQ roles.
• Experience working within road transport environments and with security-sensitive dangerous goods.
• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and Chain of Responsibility requirements.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• High attention to detail, strong organisation and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
