Salary/Level: Level 4, $99,134 - $104,044 p.a. plus Superannuation

Location: Kensington, Bunbury, Woodvale or Other Location by Negotiation, Western Australia

Ecosystem Health Branch provides the framework for efficient and effective management of invasive species including plant diseases, weeds and pest animals to help conserve natural values on lands managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions' (DBCA) Parks and Wildlife Service. The branch is responsible for the coordination of the Western Shield program, Cane Toad Strategy and Vegetation Health Service diagnostic laboratory as well as providing policy support for the implementation of the Forest Management Plan.

We currently have an opportunity for an Operations Officer North to join our team.

At a professional level and under supervision, this position:

• Coordinates operational delivery of predator management for the northern operational areas of Western Australia.
• Identifies and implements strategies to improve and enhance the delivery of predator management across the northern areas of Western Australia.
• Liaising with regional and or district staff to prepare incident investigations according to the Code of Practice.
• Assists Western Shield with compliance of bait storage to the relevant legislation, protocols, and policies.

The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.

Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation, and facilitation skills in liaising with staff and external stakeholders, including aboriginal rangers to achieve on ground outcomes.
2. Demonstrated high level of initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision in organising and implementing operational works programs against strategic goals and outcomes.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, Government policy and practice in relation to the management of nature conservation and invasive animals (including use of poisons for invasive animal control) in Western Australia.
4. Demonstrated ability to effectively use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Microsoft Office applications to support operational delivery, reporting, and decision-making for northern operations.
