Senior Process Development Engineer – Optical Test and Measurement

About the role

We are looking for a Process Development Engineer to construct, maintain and implement a Test & Measurement system for the optical test of Finisar’s WSS (Wavelength Selective Switch) products.

Key responsibilities

• Implement developed processes and automate such processes in mass production environment

• Draft and maintain process documentation such as specifications, work instructions, and operator training material required for the operations of Optical Testing System

• Specify and perform validation testing of test and measurement system. Gathering verification data to validating new testing methods used for the configuration of Optical Testing System

• Analyze test and measurement system test accuracy and reliability. Routine calibration monitoring and optical parameter analysis to ensure the accuracy and stability of the system. Troubleshoot equipment err and abnormality

• Identify, develop and monitor process metrics to monitor yield and failure modes of WSS products in the pilot production line

• Feedback to the NPI, DVT and Marketing for the selection of Optical Test conditions and proper PSD specs

• Contribute to the team responsible for transferring the WSS POU level optical test to Finisar’s Chinese manufacturing plants once developed.

• Perform regular auditing of production processes, staff and equipment to ensure up-to-date training

• Ensure manufacturing equipment/tools and materials handling meet OH&S standards.

Essential education and experience

• Degree in engineering, ideally in telecommunication - optical knowledge and test and measurement knowledge is required

• Over 2 years’ experience as a process/manufacturing engineer preferably in a high-technology manufacturing environment

• Strong technical ability and fluent communication skills

• Ability to adapt to a fast pace and results driven working environment

Desireables

• Experience in the development/maintenance of optical test system,

• Comprehension of optical measurement mythologies such as Cut-back, Muller Matrix and Reflectometry

• Strong hands on experience in optical fiber handling

• Willingness to learn, take ownership and grow in a fast-paced engineering setting
