Senior Care Practitioner

About the role

The Senior Practitioner is the senior practice authority across MANAWISE Care. The role sets, models and quality-assures therapeutic and case management practice across all residential programs, and builds the practice capability of Care Leaders, Senior Care Practitioners and Care Practitioners. The Senior Practitioner leads complex case reviews, practice escalations and post-incident practice responses, and holds practice accountability for compliance with the Human Services Quality Framework and departmental requirements. The role works alongside the Clinical Support Practitioner and the Quality, Compliance and Innovation Lead so that practice, clinical and quality functions operate as a single system.

Key responsibilities

• Sets and maintains the practice standard for MANA Care plans, case management and therapeutic practice across all MANAWISE Care programs, and leads the review and evaluation of those frameworks
• Provides practice supervision, coaching and reflective practice to Care Leaders, Senior Care Practitioners and Care Practitioners
• Leads complex case reviews, practice escalations and post-incident practice reviews, including critical incidents and SOCR matters, and drives the resulting practice corrections
• Holds practice accountability for compliance with the Human Services Quality Standards, the Statement of Standards, Child Safe Standards and departmental placement, case planning and reporting requirements
• Contributes practice evidence to HSQF certification and maintenance audits, internal audits and departmental reviews, and closes out practice-related corrective actions within agreed timeframes
• Partners with the Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services, CYMHS, education providers, allied health and families to deliver the outcomes agreed in each young person’s case plan
• Analyses incident data, practice audit findings and outcome measures, identifies practice trends, and converts them into practice improvement priorities reported to the leadership team
• Designs and delivers practice training, induction content and communities of practice in partnership with the Learning and Development Officer, and evaluates transfer of learning into practice
• Leads and maintains cultural practices and processes so that they are embraced, understood and applied across all programs, including culturally safe practice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people
• Supports the safety and wellbeing of employees through compliance with organisational and regulatory practices, policies, procedures and care plans, including work health and safety obligations

About you

• Bachelor level qualification in an appropriate discipline such as Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Science or Human Services
• At least 5 years’ experience in residential care, out-of-home care or child protection including practice leadership or supervision
• Professional development theoretical training plan
• Holds a Working with Children Blue Card (Qld)
• Current Queensland Open Driver Licence
• Willing to use own personal vehicle for work purposes (mileage paid)
• Holds and maintains a current First Aid Certificate plus CPR Certificate
• Completes a Department of Communities Suitability Check (Qld) and maintains same
• Prior to commencing, has completed the Hope and Healing course (10 modules)
• Satisfactory National Police Check no older than 12 months
