About the role
STS Locating Services is a rapidly growing company within the utility locating sector. We are currently looking for a highly motivated Trainee Utility Service Locator to join our team and start a rewarding career.
We focus on client relationships and ensuring quality is delivered above all else. STS Locating Services clients range from government sectors and major construction, consultant companies to private domestic individuals.
The RoleAs a trainee, you will receive comprehensive, hands-on training to learn how to safely and accurately identify subsurface utilities across various project sites in Geelong, Melbourne & Country Victoria
No prior experience in the utility locating sector is required. We will teach you how to operate multi-frequency pipe and cable location equipment, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and survey equipment.
While experience is not necessary, holding a current White Card is essential to get on-site. A willingness to obtain BYDA certification and other industry cards (such as RIW, WWC, and MSIC) as you progress is highly desirable.

As a Trainee at STS Locating Services, you will be required to:
Be punctual, reliable, and eager to learn
Be well-spoken, astute, and comfortable learning to communicate professionally with clients
Be responsible for assigned equipment and gradually learn to work independently
Hold a valid White Card (essential)
Be safety-focused and capable of following instructions closely
The successful candidate requires zero previous experience, but must possess a strong work ethic, an interest in learning about underground assets, and the desire to build a career within a dedicated team that is committed to delivering quality results.
