Maintenance Fitter/Technician, Black Swan

The Opportunity:  

We’re seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter/Technician to join our Black Swan manufacturing site in Clayton South. Reporting to the Reliability & Maintenance Manager, this hands-on role is responsible for executing preventative and corrective maintenance activities across the site to ensure equipment reliability, minimise downtime, and support safe, efficient production operations in fast-paced FMCG environment. We are recruiting for a day shift fitter.

Key Responsibilities:  

• Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on production and utilities equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and perform timely repairs to minimise production downtime.
• Respond to breakdowns with a strong focus on root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems (e.g. MEX, Fiix), including work orders and parts usage.
• Assist with the management of critical spare parts and consumables.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with site procedures, food safety and quality standards.

To Succeed With Us: 

You’ll bring a proactive, safety-first mindset and strong mechanical capability, along with:

• Trade qualification in Engineering (Mechanical) – Certificate III minimum (Certificate IV desirable)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a maintenance role within manufacturing or FMCG environments
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Experience using CMMS systems (MEX, Fiix or similar is highly regarded)
• Exposure to food manufacturing environments (desirable)
• A high level of attention to detail, quality workmanship and effective communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and manage competing priorities
