Registered Nurse - Community Mental Health

Please note this position is also being advertised as an Allied Health Professional (526419dL9) and only one position will be filled on merit. Please note this position is eligible for a Multi-Disciplinary Allowance.

The Role:

The Registered Nurse - Community Mental Health:

• Consistent with ongoing experience, strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients/clients, their families and other health professionals and community sector organisations within the defined community practice area. 
• As part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering high quality mental health services, provides a specialist mental health service within the community setting for a designated client group utilising evidence-based practices and recovery principles.

You will need:

1. Current knowledge of, and the ability to apply nursing principles, procedures and practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a designated practice area and in line with legal and ethical requirements and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBA) Registered Nurses standards for practice.
2. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in mental health nursing including assertive case management, triage, holistic physical and mental health assessment, clinical risk management and crisis intervention within the community setting.
3. Demonstrated written, oral and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, communicate effectively with other sectors of mental health services and primary health care providers.
4. Knowledge of continuous quality improvement (safety and quality) and the application of evidence based practice in the practice setting.
5. Ability to undertake patient/client education in the practice setting, together with a commitment to participate in ongoing professional development.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 2 October 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: Registered Nurse Grade 3-4

$80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

• Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439- $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

• Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
• Current Driver’s Licence
• Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

• Possess specialist tertiary graduate or postgraduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification
