Senior Clinical Psychologist

A new exciting opportunity has become available for a dedicated Senior Clinical Psychologist to join the Mental Health Unit at Joondalup Health Campus. The Mental Health Unit has undergone major redevelopment and has opened its doors to a new facility with a total capacity of 102 inpatient beds, across youth, adult, older adult and psychiatric intensive care services.

This is a permanent full-time position, with part-time hours also considered for the right candidate.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialised clinical psychology services to adult and older adult patients with complex psychiatric conditions, drawing on a high level of clinical knowledge, experience and professional competence.

We are looking for an experienced clinician with expertise in clinical psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based intervention, as well as consultation and education. In this senior role, you will provide supervision to Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Psychology Registrars and Trainees, and offer specialised consultation, liaison and education to other health professionals.

You will practise as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in accordance with relevant legislation, professional and ethical standards, Psychology Board of Australia requirements, and Ramsay Health Care values, policies and guidelines.

Essential Criteria:

1. Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and full non-conditional AHPRA registration as a psychologist and endorsement in (or eligibility for) Clinical Psychology specialist title with the Psychology Board of Australia.
2. Registration as a Board Approved Supervisor and demonstrated experience providing clinical supervision to clinical psychologists, clinical psychology registrars and/or provisional psychologists/trainees.
3. Demonstrated ability to practise at a senior level with a high degree of independence, clinical leadership and professional judgement across the roles of clinician, consultant, supervisor, educator, researcher/evaluator and agent of change.
4. Demonstrated advanced skills in psychological assessment, formulation and clinical risk management for consumers presenting with acute, complex and comorbid mental health conditions.
5. Demonstrated application of evidence-based, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented and person-centred approaches that reflect consumers’ individual needs, strengths, preferences and goals.
6. Demonstrated capacity to articulate and apply a coherent model of psychological practice within a multidisciplinary mental health service, including the distinct contribution of clinical psychology to assessment, formulation, intervention and systems of care.
7. Demonstrated ability to identify and formulate neurodivergent presentations, including autism and ADHD, where these may overlap with or be obscured by acute mental health presentations, and to adapt assessment, communication and intervention accordingly.
8. Demonstrated capacity to provide culturally responsive and inclusive psychological practice, adapting assessment and intervention to cultural, developmental and individual needs.
9. Demonstrated high-level organisational, written and oral communication, consultation and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
10. Demonstrated high-level knowledge of legislation, professional standards, ethical principles and regulatory requirements relevant to psychological practice and research.

Desirable Selection Criteria

1. Significant experience working as a Clinical Psychologist within an acute mental health, hospital, community mental health, or other complex clinical setting.
2. Experience in the development, delivery and/or evaluation of therapeutic group programs.
3. Experience contributing to service development, quality improvement, clinical governance, or evaluation activities.
4. Experience providing multidisciplinary consultation, workforce education and/or broader clinical capacity-building.
5. Experience in research, program evaluation or the translation of evidence into clinical practice.
