Yardman - Workshop Assistant

About the role

Swift Equipment Pty Ltd is seeking a Yardman - Workshop Assistant to join our team in Pakenham, VIC. This is a full-time position based at our workshop facility. As a Yardman - Workshop Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of our workshop environment. You will work alongside our skilled technicians and tradespeople, ensuring our yard and workshop facilities are well-maintained, organised and safe. This position is essential to maintaining our high standards of service and safety across all operations.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out pre and post hire checks on our Hire Fleet.

• Assisting technicians with various equipment workshop repairs or building of plant.

• Performing general maintenance tasks including sweeping, cleaning and waste management

• Carrying out some deliveries of Sold Scissors lifts through out Victoria.

• Helping with hire deliveries when the Truck is busy.

• Adhoc welding or small maintenance jobs around the workshop.

• Assisting with inventory management and ensuring workshop supplies are stocked and accessible

• Operating yard equipment safely, including forklifts where appropriate and certified

• Adhering to all health and safety protocols and reporting any hazards or incidents promptly

• Ensuring compliance with environmental and workplace safety regulations

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a yardman, workshop assistant or similar role within the automotive or trades industry

• A strong understanding of health and safety practices in a workshop environment

• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to maintain a tidy and efficient workspace

• Physical fitness and capability to perform manual labour tasks regularly

• Reliability and a strong work ethic with punctuality and commitment to attendance

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment

• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification is advantageous

• Basic mechanical knowledge or interest in the automotive trades industry

• Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions from supervisors and technicians
