Solicitor – 3+ Years PQE

About the role

This is a generalist solicitor position providing an opportunity to work across a diverse range of matters. The successful candidate will be required to manage matters from initial instructions through to resolution, with support from the wider legal and administrative team. Experience in Criminal Law and/or Family Law will be highly regarded, however, the firm is open to solicitors from a range of practice areas who have strong general legal experience and are looking to join a growing practice. For the first three months, the successful candidate will be based at the Knoxfield office. Following this initial three-month period, the position will be primarily based at the Pakenham office, however there is an expectation that the solicitor will travel between office locations, as required.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high-level legal services while managing your own caseload

• Prepare legal correspondence, court documents and other legal documentation

• Conduct legal research and provide practical advice

• Prepare for and appear in courts and tribunals, where required

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date file records

• Meet deadlines and manage competing priorities

• Work collaboratively with the legal team

• Contribute to the continued growth and development of the practice, including mentoring junior solicitors

About you

• At least 3 years post-qualified experience

• Knowledge of / experience with software such as: Smokeball, VXT phone lines, Microsoft Teams and Webex

• Hold a current Australian unrestricted practicing certificate or eligibility to hold one

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Sound legal knowledge and strong attention to detail

• Confident managing files independently

• Comfortable with court room advocacy to mention, contest mention and directions' hearings in the Magistrates Court criminal and family violence matters

• Strong client management and interpersonal skills

• Commercially aware and solutions-focused

• Organised and capable of managing a busy caseload

• Demonstrate professionalism, integrity and a strong work ethic

• A team player who is willing to contribute to a positive workplace culture
