Youth Coordinator - Australia Wide

As the Youth Coordinator, you spark and nurture the next generation of human rights leaders. You design and deliver engaging youth programs and training pathways that build activist skills, grow participation, and bring human rights education to life. Working closely with the community engagement team and Youth Advisory Group, you connect young people to campaigns, leadership opportunities, and each other, supporting them find their voice, take action, and be part of a vibrant, people-powered movement for change.

• Assist in recruiting and onboarding youth members, ensuring a safe and meaningful introduction to AIA, in partnership with staff and the Youth Advisory Group.
• Coordinate youth programs and engagement opportunities and youth programs that build confidence, develop skills, and enable participation in campaigns and leadership activities in close collaboration with People Powered Campaigns Unit (PPCU) teams.
• Support the Youth Advisory Group and lead activists to ensure connected, rewarding experiences and meaningful participation, providing guidance on routine processes where needed.
• Deliver youth-focused programs using co-design and participatory approaches, learning to apply knowledge and techniques under supervision.
• Work closely with the PPCU teams to make activism opportunities relevant, accessible and engaging for young members.
• Support building relationships with external stakeholders (universities, youth-led organisations, schools, sports clubs) to advance AIA’s goals.
• Manage operational tasks for youth programs, including sign-up flows, support contact meetings, and program logistics.
• Produce communications and use CRM systems to support program coordination, membership management, and participant tracking, following established tools and procedures.
• Ensure all youth activities comply with child protection laws and safeguarding policies, recognising opportunities to improve processes.
• Undertake other tasks within skill and competence as required, performing routine tasks with supervision and escalating issues as appropriate.

• Experience working with young people in educational, community, or advocacy contexts.
• Experience supporting youth-focused programs and projects, including design, coordination, and delivery.
• Experience using co-design and participatory practices to engage stakeholders and communities.
• Familiarity with human rights issues, social change methods, and organising techniques.
• Experience producing and delivering communications using a range of channels and technologies.
• Experience using CRM systems and tools to support program and membership management.

• Demonstrated experience in or commitment to working with rights holders.

• Strong collaborator, inspiring and empowering young people to learn, and achieve their goals.
• Future focused, creative with a solution mindset.
• Able to adapt to people from different backgrounds.
• Creating change through co-design and participatory approaches with communities.
