Fellow (Bariatric and General Surgery)

The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Fellow (Bariatric and General Surgery) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

• Manage Acute admission, Inpatient care, Outpatients clinical, inter-disciplinary consultant and clinical handover
• Advocate for the patient which includes protecting the patient, being the patient's voice and provision of quality care
• Participate in the supervision, training and professional development of Junior medical staff
• Work within and support the multi-disciplinary clinical team

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• Bachelor of Medicine or Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
• AHPRA Registration
• Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in general surgery (or equivalent overseas qualification) and be eligible for medical registration in Australia
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

• Temporary part time (up to 12 months, 60 hours per fortnight)
• Base salary ranging from $88.41- $97.43 per hour

The Gold Coast Health and Hospital Service (GCHHS) has a tertiary level Colorectal Unit offering a full range of services in Colorectal malignance's and benign disorders. The Unit services the entire Gold Coast and New South Wales areas. A well-established multidisciplinary team that boasts a close working relationship with other departments. Griffith University (co-located) and Bond University have undergraduate medical schools and post-graduate research programs as well as a large Private Hospital and clinic facilities also available.
