About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join V/Line's media team and play a key role in protecting and enhancing the organisation's reputation. As a Senior Media Adviser, you'll develop media materials, respond to enquiries, identify proactive story opportunities and provide trusted advice on emerging issues and risks. You'll work at the heart of the organisation, helping communicate important information to passengers, communities and stakeholders across Victoria.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing reactive media management with proactive storytelling. Working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders, you'll prepare media responses, media releases, briefings and communication plans, while identifying opportunities to showcase the important role V/Line plays in connecting Victorian communities.
Whether you're an experienced media adviser, communications professional or journalist looking to transition into communications role, this position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile issues, develop strategic media skills and contribute to one of Victoria's most recognised public organisations.
About You
You're a strong communicator with media, communications, journalism or public relations experience. You can turn complex information into clear messages, remain calm under pressure and confidently manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment. You enjoy identifying media opportunities, providing trusted advice and building strong stakeholder relationships.
Your background includes:
Experience responding to media enquiries and managing issues, particularly in a time-sensitive environment Strong and sound judgement when dealing with sensitive or high-profile matters. Experience preparing media releases, statements, briefings or other media materials. Excellent writing skills, including attention to detail. Proven experience in working with multiple internal and external stakeholders and providing advice n a calm and professional manner The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Media, journalism, communications or public relations experience. Experience working in government, a ministerial office, or another highly regulated environment.
