Maintenance and Capex Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Group Operations Manager, the Maintenance & CAPEX Manager will be responsible for the reliability, safety and performance of the company's plant, equipment, infrastructure and facilities. You will lead preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance activities while also planning and delivering capital projects, equipment upgrades, new installations and process improvements. The role has two direct reports: a Mechanical Designer and a Maintenance Apprentice, and will work with external contractors. This role also works closely with production, operations, logistics, quality, compliance, procurement and finance. While primarily based at the Mildura facility, the role includes off-site work throughout the year. This may involve travel to other company locations, suppliers or project sites to undertake maintenance, fabrication, installation or commissioning activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continually improve preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance programs.

• Plan and coordinate maintenance activities to minimise unplanned downtime and production disruption.

• Monitor plant performance, investigate equipment failures and implement practical, sustainable solutions.

• Maintain accurate asset, maintenance, inspection and compliance records.

• Identify, scope and evaluate capital investment and equipment improvement opportunities.

• Prepare business cases, budgets, cost estimates and return-on-investment analysis.

• Manage CAPEX projects from initial concept and design through procurement, installation, commissioning and handover.

• Coordinate contractors, tradespeople, equipment suppliers and engineering consultants.

• Lead, coach and develop the maintenance and engineering team.

• Ensure maintenance and project work complies with WHS requirements, permits, company procedures and ISO 9001 standards.

About you

• A recognised mechanical, electrical, fabrication or related trade qualification.

• Demonstrated experience in maintenance leadership within a manufacturing, industrial or agricultural environment.

• Demonstrated experience managing plant upgrades, equipment installations or capital projects.

• Strong working knowledge of industrial plant, equipment, fabrication and maintenance practices.

• Practical stainless-steel welding and fabrication capability.

• Experience preparing project scopes, budgets, schedules and cost estimates.

• Sound financial and commercial awareness.

• CAD capability, preferably using Autodesk Inventor.

• Strong fault-finding, analytical and problem-solving skills.

• A current and valid driver's licence.
