Medicine Internship

We are seeking a highly motivated veterinarian to join our multidisciplinary North Ryde specialist hospital as a Medicine Intern.
This 12-month internship is designed for veterinarians who are seeking a supportive, structured and clinically diverse environment to further develop their skills in referral-level practice and start their journey towards becoming an internal medicine specialist.

About the role

The successful intern will join the North Ryde Medicine team (11 specialists and 3 residents) and will contribute to the assessment and management of a varied and complex referral caseload. You will be actively involved in patient care, diagnostics, rounds and case discussions, with graduated responsibility appropriate to experience.
This role provides:

• Daily exposure to complex internal medicine cases
• Close supervision and mentoring by specialist clinicians
• Opportunities for learning through rounds, journal clubs, and case-based teaching
• Strong collaboration with other specialist services including imaging, surgery, emergency & critical care, and oncology

Support and training

SASH places a strong emphasis on education, mentorship, and team support. Interns are closely supported by specialists and senior clinicians, with a focus on developing sound clinical reasoning, communication skills, and professional confidence.
There can be opportunity to contribute to publications and conduct a brief research project for publication.

To be successful in this position you will have: 

• Tertiary qualified Veterinarian with a minimum of 2 years’ experience 
• Completed a rotating internship 
• Current registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of NSW 
• Be enrolled or have passed in MANZCVS (or equivalent) in Internal Medicine
