Your Role

Chanel College is seeking a vibrant, efficient, and energetic person for the position of Finance Assistant (School Fees). This is a term-time continuing position for 25 hpw (or as negotiated with the successful applicant), commencing as soon as possible (or as negotiated with the successful applicant).

The Finance Assistant will apply a depth of knowledge and a broad range of skills which facilitate the financial management and administration of the college. 

Typical duties performed include, but are not limited to:

• Practicing confidentiality in relation to all aspects of the role
• Working within school guidelines and procedures and in consultation with the Principal, undertake the collection of outstanding debts. 
• Follow up on overdue family fee accounts as required according to the relevant school procedures and maintain the confidentiality of all debtors. 
• Build rapport and trusted relationships with families to assist in developing tailored solutions to allow them the opportunity to meet financial commitments. 
• Manage EasyPay payments - calculate instalment payment amounts, process payments and returns and recalculate instalment amounts where required.
• Determine eligibility to school fee discounts, calculate and process all fee discounts. 
• Assist in the administration of applications for fee concessions. 
• Monitor the eligibility and expiry of Concession Cards. Prepare accounts for school fees and sundry items. 
• Assist with counter and telephone enquiries from parents regarding school fee/excursion payments. 
• Oversee accounts payable and administer the weekly payment schedule. 
• Maintain accurate records of accounts receivable, accounts payable and the general ledger using the TASS program.

About you

The successful applicant will have an understanding of, and a commitment to, the ethos of Catholic education. In addition you will have excellent time management skills, well developed interpersonal skills and a high proficiency of computer skills.  

Previous experience in a busy school office would be advantageous.

Mandatory Requirements

• A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
