About the role
Location: Broadmeadows & Northern Suburbs
Service Area: primarily Broadmeadows, Coolaroo, St Albans and Moonee Ponds
KoalaKare is currently seeking a reliable and experienced Disability Support Worker to join our support team for participants located across Melbourne’s northern and north-western suburbs.
We currently have relief shifts available, with the opportunity to build a broader and more consistent roster by supporting other participants in the area.
We are looking for someone who is calm, patient, reliable and genuinely enjoys supporting people to live meaningful and independent lives. The successful applicant will be confident working independently, building positive rapport with participants and providing consistent, person-centred support.
About the RoleThis role will primarily involve supporting participants in Broadmeadows, Coolaroo, St Albans and Moonee Ponds, with the possibility of additional shifts in surrounding northern and north-western suburbs.
The ideal applicant will be based in or around the northern/north-western suburbs of Melbourne and be comfortable travelling between participant locations.
A valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle are essential for this role.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupporting participants with community access and appointments
Providing companionship and engaging in shared activities
Supporting participants to maintain positive routines and engage in their local community
Light meal preparation and general household tidying
Encouraging independence and supporting participants to achieve their individual goals
Providing respectful, person-centred support
Maintaining clear communication with the KoalaKare team
Completing accurate and timely shift notes and documentation
We are looking for someone who is:
Experienced in disability support
Calm, patient and compassionate
Reliable, punctual and consistent
Confident working independently
Able to build positive and respectful relationships with participants
Comfortable travelling between different participant locations
Flexible and willing to accept relief shifts and opportunities to build additional hours
Committed to providing high-quality, person-centred support
Certificate III or IV in Disability Support, Individual Support or equivalent
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
Current Victorian Working with Children Check
Valid Australian driver’s licence
Reliable vehicle
Comprehensive vehicle insurance
Very good written and verbal English communication skills
Previous experience working in disability support
