About the Role

As Principal Procurement Officer, you will lead complex and strategic procurement and contract management activities while providing clear, practical and risk-based advice across QLeave. Working closely with the Manager Procurement, the role partners with business areas throughout the end-to-end procurement lifecycle to deliver transparent, compliant and fit-for-purpose outcomes.

Combining hands-on procurement delivery with trusted advisory support, the position contributes to stronger frameworks, consistent practices and improved organisational capability. This includes supporting procurement planning, supplier evaluation and negotiation, contract establishment and administration, process improvement, and the provision of guidance and training to build organisational capability.

The role reports to the Manager Procurement and supervises the Senior Procurement Officer.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Lead complex and strategic end-to-end procurement activities, ensuring risk, probity, transparency and value-for-money considerations are addressed.
• Provide practical, customer-focused and risk-based procurement and contract management advice to business areas and key stakeholders.
• Partner with stakeholders across procurement planning, market engagement, evaluation, negotiation, contract development and implementation.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of procurement and contract management frameworks, policies, procedures, tools and templates.
• Build organisational procurement capability through practical guidance, knowledge sharing and training in procurement and contract administration.
• Administer contracts in line with Queensland Government guidance and QLeave requirements, while providing oversight and support to the Senior Procurement Officer.

While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, the following knowledge, skills and qualifications will be favourably regarded:

• Experience working in a public-sector procurement function and a relevant procurement qualification, such as Level 3, progress towards Level 4 (Strategic) Procurement Certification through the Queensland Government, or a corresponding Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) qualification.
