About the role
At Brophy, we believe children and young people thrive when they are surrounded by safe, consistent and caring adults, and this role sits right at the heart of that belief.
Working from a trauma-informed, strengths-focused lens, our Home Based Care Practitioner will provide direct case management to children and young people living in Foster Care and Kinship Care, while also walking alongside carers to offer guidance, encouragement and practical support. This role is about building trust, creating stability and helping young people feel seen, heard and supported to reach their full potential.
You’ll actively embed new learnings into your practice and draw on evidence-based frameworks such as the Best Interest Case Practice Model and Looking After Children, using professional judgement to balance risk, safety and developmental needs. Your work will be grounded in a sound understanding of relevant legislation, standards and assessment processes, but always led by relationship, curiosity and care.
Central to this role is the ability to develop strong, respectful and genuine relationships with children, young people, families and caregivers. You’ll take the time to understand their lived experiences, respond to complexity with compassion, and advocate for outcomes that prioritise safety, belonging and wellbeing.
With both Full-Time and Part-Time opportunities available, we’re looking for someone who brings a solid foundation in trauma-informed practice, with the willingness and capacity to continue learning and undertaking further training aligned to the program. In return, you’ll be supported to grow your practice, contribute meaningfully to a multidisciplinary team, and make a real difference in the lives of children and young people every day.
