About the role
At Tennis Australia, we’re creating a more playful world through tennis – for everyone.
From grassroots to Grand Slams, tennis brings people together, inspires communities, and builds champions on and off the court.
We’re a team of imaginative and passionate people who believe in the power of sport to make a difference. If you're ready to help us serve up real impact, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re committed to reflecting the communities we work and play in. We strongly encourage applications from women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTQI+ individuals, people with disability, and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
About the Role
As Head of Risk & Enterprise Safety, you will play a key leadership role in strengthening Tennis Australia’s risk, safety and resilience capabilities. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of enterprise risk, safety, insurance and emergency management frameworks, ensuring they effectively support the organisation’s strategic objectives.
You will partner with Executive leaders to define target risk positions, drive mitigation strategies and controls and provide meaningful risk and safety insights that enable informed decision-making and sustainable organisational performance
In this role, you will:
Lead the development and enhancement of Tennis Australia’s enterprise risk management practices, frameworks and reporting routines.
Partner with Executive risk owners and business leaders to define strategic risk ratings, risk targets, controls and mitigation plans.
Prepare high-quality risk and safety reporting for the Executive, Board and Finance, Risk & Audit Committee.
Uplift safety governance, reporting and engagement across Tennis HQ, Tennis World, Australian Open, events and Member Associations.
Oversee enterprise safety targets, incident reporting, training compliance and post-event safety reporting.
Monitor emerging risks and provide strategic advice to leaders on preparedness, response, recovery and resilience.
Translate complex risk, safety and governance matters into clear, practical and actionable recommendations.
About You
You are an experienced Risk and Safety leader who is confident operating in complex, high-profile and fast-moving environments. You bring strong judgement, a proactive and autonomous working style and the ability to influence outcomes through trusted relationships rather than direct authority.
You are comfortable advising and challenging senior executives, balancing governance and compliance requirements with commercial and operational realities. You can take complex risk and safety issues and turn them into clear insights, practical actions and strong reporting that enables better decision-making.
Must Have
Significant senior experience in enterprise risk, safety, governance or assurance roles.
Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
Proven senior stakeholder, Executive, Board and Committee reporting capability
Skilled in translating complex risk and safety matters into clear, actionable outcomes.
Autonomous, proactive working style, demonstrating initiative and accountability.
Experience developing or enhancing risk management frameworks, controls, mitigation plans and reporting practices.
Strong understanding of WHS, safety governance, operational risk and compliance requirements.
Additional Requirements
Hold, or be willing to obtain, a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
Flexibility to support occasional out-of-hours activities associated with Tennis Australia events and operations.
A collaborative, growth mindset aligned to Tennis Australia's values of Imagination, Collaboration, Humility and Excellence.
What’s to love?
Career development with a range of formal education and on the job training opportunities
Tickets to the Australian Open plus Superbox tickets to events at Rod Laver & John Cain Arena
