Legal Assistant/Law Clerk

Kate Williams Medical Law Specialists is a small, four-lawyer firm providing legal services in New South Wales and Victoria, solely in the area of medical negligence. We need your assistance Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:15 PM.

What the job involves:

1. Diarising court orders, conferences and other commitments

2. Answering phone calls and email enquiries, including from new clients looking to schedule appointments

3. Scheduling appointments, conferences, mediations and associated tasks

4. Requesting medical and other records, and following up requests

5. Filing Court forms and documents in NSW and Victorian Court Systems

6. Assisting with Medicare claims forms and their lodgement

7. Collating and compiling briefs and bundles of documents, primarily online using Dropbox and OneDrive

8. Preparing correspondence and setting up forms

9. Supporting lawyers with day-to-day file management

 Key Requirements

1. Experience in a law firm in an administration or law clerk capacity, or similar experience in a similar capacity in a different profession

2. Experience and competency using Microsoft Office Suite (Primarily Word and Outlook)

3. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail in writing and communication

4. Strong organisational skills, with an ability to manage and prioritise your tasks (and a willingness to ask for help prioritising if there's many competing deadlines)

5. The ability to self-motivate, and show initiative completing tasks and problem solving

Experience with LEAP Practice Management software will be highly regarded. Applicants from Personal Injury Firms are strongly encouraged to apply.
