About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Business and Private Client Advisory (BPCA) division, which supports a range of small, medium and large private businesses and family groups, along with some not-for-profit and foreign owned businesses.  We offer a wide range of services including accounting and tax compliance, business and tax advisory, structuring, superannuation, wealth management and transactional services.

You will be an integral member of our highly functioning team that specialises in Small to Medium enterprises. The Sydney BPCA division is led by 3 partners with over 20 staff within the Sydney division. Within the whole Sydney office there are approximately 90 team members. We are looking for someone that will fit into this team and contribute positively to the management of the vast range of business and private clients.

Key duties include workflow management, job delegation, and -client advisory. This role demands strong client service, and leadership skills, while ensuring productivity goals and budgets are met and escalating issues when appropriate.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the management of a large portfolio of SW clients
• Achieve productivity targets and client budgets; deliver value-added services
• Support and lead team members for optimal performance
• Allocate staff and resources to meet client and firm commitments
• Identify and develop potential business opportunities
• Actively participate in management of the business clients
• Attend manager meetings
• Advise Associate Directors and Directors of any necessary matters
• Ensure administrative compliance
• Perform other duties as required, including training and special projects

Key skills and experience

• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in Business Services at a Chartered/CPA accounting firm
• Prior experience with small to medium business clients preferred
• Degree and CA/CPA qualified (or in progress)
• Up-to-date technical knowledge of taxation law and accounting developments
• Potential networking skills and client relationship abilities
• Excellent time management skills and ability to meet client deadlines
• Potential to mentor and manage junior staff
• Skilled in handling sensitive client matters diplomatically
• Professional presence with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient with Xero, MYOB, Reckon, and Microsoft Excel
