About us
Southside Racing operates high-class horse racing and training facilities at both Tynong and Cranbourne, as well as three, 7-day-a-week hospitality and entertainment venues - the Cardinia Club, Club Officer and Silks Cranbourne. These are a vital part of our business and allow us to provide our members with a wide range of hospitality and entertainment options.
The opportunity
The Machinery / Groundsperson Coordinator is primarily responsible for the efficient and effective repairs and maintenance of turf machinery, equipment and vehicles at the Pakenham Racecourse, Tynong. The Machinery / Groundsperson Coordinator will also be required to undertake project based work such as earth moving as Southside Pakenham continues to grow in size and infrastructure. This role must also be responsible for ensuring any health and safety related issues are proactively identified, promoting a safe working environment amongst all outdoor staff.
Responsibilities
Maintain and adjust tractors, mowers, miscellaneous vehicles and various agricultural implements for the purposes of track maintenance
Assist in project based work activity as Pakenham racecourse continues to evolve
Advise the Manager Racecourses on any major repairs required
Co-ordinate with Manager Racecourses on logistics of industry machines
Ensure all staff inspect machinery daily to check, condition, safety, fuel, water oil and greasing.
Develop and implement service schedules for vehicles and equipment
Perform as part of team and provide leadership, guidance and supervision to Groundspersons in the completion of maintenance tasks
Assist grounds team with track and gardens duties during busy racing season of spring through summer
Assist grounds team with any other duties as required
About You
Tradesperson Qualification as Mechanic
Current Victorian Car Drivers license
Physically able to handle equipment and complete responsibilities
Communication skills to enable participation in a team environment and assist with delivery of necessary communications to a diverse range of people
Diligence and commitment to achieved desired standards
