About the role

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing & Supply Planning Officer to join our Operations team. This role combines purchasing, supplier management, procurement administration, inventory planning, and demand forecasting to ensure product availability and exceptional customer service across Australia and New Zealand.
Reporting to the Senior Demand Planner, you will play a key role in maintaining product supply, managing supplier relationships, supporting inventory performance, and driving continuous improvement within our supply chain operations.
About the Role
This position is responsible for the day-to-day purchasing and replenishment of inventory, maintaining strong supplier relationships, coordinating inbound supply, and supporting the national forecasting and inventory planning process.
The successful candidate will work closely with Sales, Marketing, Logistics, Warehouse Operations, and our global Phoenix Contact supply chain network to ensure products are available for customers on time and in full.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supplier Management
Manage daily purchasing and replenishment activities through SAP.
Prepare and process purchase orders and supplier communications.
Monitor supplier performance, lead times, pricing, delivery schedules, and service levels.
Manage supplier relationships and support contract and pricing reviews.
Support supplier onboarding, compliance, and risk management activities.
Coordinate inbound supply shipments and monitor order progress.
Work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve supply issues.
Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, service, and cost performance.
Inventory & Demand Planning
Support demand forecasting and inventory planning activities across Australia and New Zealand.
Monitor stock levels and recommend replenishment actions to achieve target service levels.
Analyse sales trends, historical demand, customer projects, and market activity to improve forecast accuracy.
Maintain forecasting and planning data within SAP.
Produce inventory, purchasing, forecasting, and service-level performance reports.
Assist in the management of safety stock, inventory optimisation, and product lifecycle planning.
Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings and support business-wide planning activities.
Supply Chain Performance
Monitor and report on key KPIs including:
Supplier performance
Forecast accuracy
Inventory levels
Product availability
Lead time performance
On Time In Full (OTIF/SIFOT) delivery
Liaise with Phoenix Contact's global production and distribution network regarding:
Product allocation
Supply constraints
Inventory availability
Shipment status
Supply chain risks
About You
You may currently be working as a:

You'll bring:
Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply planning, inventory management, or customer supply chain operations.
Strong SAP experience (S4/HANA and/or ECC6 preferred).
Experience working within industrial, engineering, manufacturing, automation, electrical, or distribution environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent supplier and stakeholder management skills.
High attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Understanding of forecasting, inventory control, and supply chain processes.
Experience with international supply chains and inbound freight operations will be highly regarded.
Location & Working Requirements/Arrangements
Phoenix Contact Australia's Head Office is in Parramatta NSW, with our National Logistics Hub based in Eastern Creek. This role requires regular collaboration with both office-based and operational teams. The successful candidate will be expected to work from our Eastern Creek facility a minimum of three days per week to maintain close alignment with warehouse operations, inventory management activities, and supply chain execution.
