The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a General Manager, Facility and Assetsto provide a critical role within Corrections Victoria.

About the Business Unit

The Barwon Southwest Prison Precinct incorporates four custodial facilities located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne.  The four custodial facilities consist of two maximum security prisons being HM Prison Barwon and Western Plains Correctional Centre and medium security prison Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annex. 

Corrections Victoria has committed to establishing the Barwon Southwest Prison Precinct, aimed at developing shared operating models among four prisons to improve prisoner outcomes and create efficiencies. As a key component of this initiative, the Facility and Assets group was established to provide local and contracted facility and asset management services with consistent and transparent service levels.

About the Role

The General Manager, Facility and Asset will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a diverse range of contracted and local asset management and facility maintenance services across the Precinct..

Some of your duties will include:

• Demonstrated experience leading facilities and asset management functions across large, complex and operationally sensitive environments.
• Proven ability to manage maintenance delivery, asset lifecycle planning and infrastructure risk for critical and diverse built assets.
• Strong experience in the commercial and technical oversight of outsourced facilities maintenance or integrated service delivery contracts.
• Demonstrated knowledge of statutory compliance, occupational health and safety obligations, audit processes and risk management in relation to facilities and infrastructure.
• Proven ability to provide high-level strategic advice to senior stakeholders on technical, operational and service delivery issues.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and performance management skills, with the ability to lead teams and influence service providers in complex environments.
• Demonstrated ability to respond to critical incidents, infrastructure failures and urgent operational issues in a structured and effective manner.

About you

• Significant experience in facilities and asset management within a large, complex service delivery environment.
• Experience managing outsourced service providers and maintenance contracts with accountability for performance, compliance and service outcomes.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating service delivery across complex operating environments.
• Experience developing technical specifications, maintenance strategies and governance frameworks for built assets and infrastructure.

Qualifications/requirements     

• A tertiary qualification in facilities management, engineering, building services, asset management, project management or a related discipline would be well regarded.
• Relevant industry certifications or training in asset management, contract management, procurement, risk management or occupational health and safety would be advantageous.
