About the role
Join a second-generation family business and help shape the next stage of its finance function. You'll work directly with our Founder and CFO, taking ownership of key day-to-day finance activities while helping improve the systems and processes behind them. This is a hands-on role with genuine exposure to the broader business. You'll be encouraged to ask questions, challenge inefficient processes and look for better ways of working. As your capability grows, there will also be opportunities to build experience across month-end close, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
Key responsibilities
Managing accounts payable, supplier reconciliations and payment runs
Processing payroll and maintaining accurate payroll records
Managing PAYG, superannuation, STP and supporting payroll tax requirements
Completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations
Supporting accounts receivable and customer payment allocations
Preparing and assisting with BAS lodgements
Supporting month-end and management reporting
Maintaining accurate financial information across multiple entities
Responding to finance and payroll queries across the business
Working with the CFO to strengthen financial controls and processes
About you
3+ years' experience in a Finance Officer, Accounts Officer, Assistant Accountant or similar role
Hands-on accounts payable and payroll experience and strong reconciliation skills
Working knowledge of Australian payroll requirements, including PAYG, superannuation and STP
Experience preparing or assisting with BAS
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Confidence using accounting and payroll systems, with Xero experience highly regarded
Good Excel skills and confidence working with data
Strong organisation and the ability to manage competing deadlines
Clear communication skills and confidence dealing with employees, suppliers and senior leaders
