CAYLUS – Community Development Worker

Summary:

The CAYLUS Community Development Worker will play a pivotal role in fostering community engagement and development initiatives in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. This position is essential for enhancing local partnerships, promoting social inclusion, and driving sustainable community projects. The successful candidate will work closely with diverse community groups to identify needs and implement effective solutions, contributing to the overall well-being and resilience of the community.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate community engagement activities to promote participation and collaboration among local residents.
• Develop and implement community development projects that address identified needs and priorities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, including local organisations, government agencies, and residents.
• Conduct needs assessments and gather feedback to inform project planning and evaluation.
• Provide support and guidance to community groups in capacity building and resource management.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of community initiatives, reporting on outcomes and recommendations for improvement.
• Organise workshops, training sessions, and events to enhance community skills and knowledge.
• Advocate for community interests and represent the organisation in local forums and meetings.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Social Work, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in community development or a similar role.
• Demonstrated ability to engage and work effectively with diverse community groups.
• Strong project management skills, with experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating community initiatives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust.
• Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for community engagement and project management.
• A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the region as required.
