About Defence Community Dogs (DCD)
Defence Community Dogs is an independent program that provides highly trained Assistance Dogs at no cost, to serving and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members who need physical and emotional support for mood, depressive and anxiety disorders including PTSD. Our program not only saves and empowers veterans - restoring confidence, connection, safety, and hope - but also gives dogs a second chance and a meaningful purpose, and provides inmates with rehabilitation, responsibility and the chance to contribute to something profoundly positive.
About the Role
As our Marketing & Engagement Lead, you’ll be responsible for planning and delivering integrated marketing and engagement initiatives that support our mission and organisational growth.
This is a broad, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and is comfortable working autonomously.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver marketing campaigns across digital and offline channels
Manage social media content, scheduling, and performance
Create engaging copy, visual content, and storytelling assets
Coordinate events, activations, and organisational presentations
Support engagement with donors, sponsors, and partners
Maintain website content and monitor performance
Develop marketing collateral (reports, newsletters, promotional materials)
Identify opportunities to raise brand awareness and public profile
Support fundraising campaigns and impact communications
Coordinate photo and video shoots with external providers
About You
You’re a proactive and versatile marketing professional who enjoys owning work end-to-end.
You bring:
3–5+ years’ experience in marketing, communications, or a similar role
Strong content creation and copywriting skills
Experience managing social media and interpreting analytics
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Proficiency in tools such as Canva/Adobe, CMS platforms, and email marketing systems
High attention to detail and brand awareness
Highly regarded:
Experience in not-for-profit, fundraising, or community engagement
Exposure to events, PR, or partnerships
Understanding of community, veteran, or mental health sectors
