Cook

The Coffee Club Ballarat is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our team on a full-time basis at our café restaurant located in Ballarat, Victoria. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items, supporting daily kitchen operations, maintaining food safety and hygiene standards, and ensuring consistent food quality and presentation during service periods.

The role is suitable for a reliable and skilled Cook with experience in a busy café, restaurant or commercial kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Examine foodstuffs and ingredients to ensure quality, freshness and suitability before preparation and cooking.
• Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment to ensure food is cooked safely and consistently.
• Prepare and cook food in accordance with café recipes, menu standards and customer requirements.
• Season food during cooking and ensure meals meet required flavour, quality and presentation standards.
• Portion food, place meals on plates and add gravies, sauces and garnishes before service.
• Store food in temperature-controlled facilities in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements and customer requests where required.
• Assist with planning menus and estimating food requirements where required.
• Assist with receiving, storing, rotating and organising food supplies and kitchen stock.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen areas, equipment, utensils and workstations.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements at all times.
• Support kitchen workflow during busy service periods to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner.
• Assist with reducing food wastage through proper storage, preparation and portion control.
• Work cooperatively with chefs, managers and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction.
• Train other kitchen staff and apprentices where required.

Skills and Experience Required

The successful applicant must have:

• AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality or a related field.
• Relevant experience as a Cook or in a similar commercial kitchen role.
• Experience preparing and cooking food in a busy café, restaurant or similar hospitality environment.
• Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, kitchen operations and food presentation.
• Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain food quality during peak service periods.
• Strong communication, organisation and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a kitchen team.
• Availability to work a rotating roste

Pay: $80,000.00 per year
