About the role
We’re looking for a hands-on Venue Manager to lead Slipstream Brewing Social House, the Sunshine Coast home of award-winning independent brewery Slipstream Brewing Co.
Slipstream Brewing Social House is our 300-seat restaurant, bar and dedicated function and entertainment space in Birtinya. It brings together craft beer, quality food, functions, live entertainment and larger venue events in a relaxed, customer-led hospitality environment.
This isn’t a role for someone who wants to manage from an office. We’re looking for an experienced, visible leader who enjoys being part of the action, sets the standard on the floor and knows how to bring out the best in a hospitality team.
Why you’ll like this job
Slipstream Brewing Social House is built around craft beer, great food and memorable experiences. We’re always looking for fresh ways to give people another reason to visit. From new beer releases and special menus to functions, live entertainment and larger venue events, we want to make every visit memorable for the right reasons.
You’ll enjoy:
A creative environment where new ideas are encouraged
The opportunity to talk about new beers, flavours and food pairings
A collaborative team that works together across the business
Supportive leadership that listens and values your input
Hospitality hours without the late-night finishes
What you’ll be responsible for
You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day performance of the venue while remaining present and involved with your team and customers.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading from the front during service
Delivering consistently strong and genuine customer experiences
Motivating, training and developing the front-of-house team
Creating a welcoming environment for regulars and first-time visitors
Managing labour, cost of goods, stock and other key financial measures
Identifying opportunities to grow revenue and improve venue performance
Supporting the delivery of functions, promotions and special events
Solving problems calmly and taking initiative when challenges arise
Maintaining strong working relationships across the venue and wider Slipstream team
Building a positive, accountable and high-performing team culture
Maintaining venue compliance and consistently high operational standards
What a great shift looks like
Our regulars leave happy. New customers feel genuinely welcome and want to return. The team finishes the shift feeling motivated, supported and proud to be part of a gun hospitality crew.
You’ll understand how to make that happen while keeping a close eye on service standards, team performance and the numbers behind the business.
What you’ll bring
Along with the right leadership style, you’ll ideally have:
At least three years’ experience in a senior venue management role
Experience leading a high-volume restaurant, bar or function venue
Proven responsibility for labour costs, COGS, stock control, budgets and venue performance
Experience recruiting, training, motivating and performance-managing front-of-house teams
Strong knowledge of hospitality operations, compliance and service standards
A current RMLV certificate and Queensland Approved Manager licence, or the ability and willingness to obtain them before commencing
Availability to work across the venue’s trading week, including weekends
Confidence using rostering, POS, booking and venue management systems
A genuine customer-first approach and confidence working alongside your team
The initiative to identify problems and find practical solutions
Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
The ability to listen, take feedback on board and work collaboratively
Creative ideas balanced by sound commercial judgement
A genuine interest in craft beer and enthusiasm for learning about new beers, flavours and food pairings
Formal hospitality or business management qualifications will be highly regarded but are not essential. Practical leadership experience, commercial understanding and the ability to build a strong team matter most to us.
This role is not for you if…
You’re looking for a role that keeps you behind a desk
You prefer to direct a team without getting involved on the floor
You struggle to accept feedback or work collaboratively
You avoid accountability for financial or operational performance
You don’t genuinely enjoy customers, people and the energy of hospitality
