Due to continued growth an opportunity exists for an experienced Carpenter/Joiner to join our team.

About the role

The position requires a candidate with a desire for high quality workmanship and strong communication skills to ensure that projects run as smoothly as possible.

Ideally we're looking for an experienced carpenter, to work on commercial and residential building restoration projects of varying sizes. We are a small team with a flexible easy going environment which aims to both support our team while ensuring projects run smoothly to time and budget.

The right candidate will ideally possess the following:

• Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team

• A proven ability to perform under pressure

• A pro-active “can-do” attitude

• Good communication skills

• Able to achieve targets whilst maintaining a high standard of quality

• Have a thorough understanding of the administrative and construction side of getting a project completed

• Excellent time management skills

Key responsibilities

• Responsible for a safe site and safe work practices

• Capable of meeting deadlines

• Dealing with any issues in a professional manner, escalating as required

• Required to follow building plans and specifications to meet the needs of clients

• Install structures and fixtures such as windows

• Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors and door frames

• Be able to fix and repair sash windows

• Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures

• Be able to report and collaborate with the Team Leader throughout any project

• Ensure all company assets are secure and used safely and competently

Qualifications and Experience

• Must be a fully qualified carpenter

• Have at least 5 years of carpentry experience

• Knowledge of Work, Health and Safety legislation

• Heritage Restoration experience, highly desirable

• Competently read and follow architectural plans

• Be a skilled trades person with high quality workmanship 

• Must have your own hand tools and power tools

• Possess a recognised Certificate III in Carpentry and Joinery

• Hold a current First Aid Certificate

• Must hold a valid white card

• Must hold a drivers licence and have access to a vehicle 

• Must be able to apply for Working with Children Check WWCC

• Must be able to obtain a National Police Check with no disclosable outcomes

• Must be able to pass a Drug and Alcohol test at anytime.

• Must be able to manage onsite WHS requirements.
