About the role

Baker's Delight Mittagong is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Sales Assistant to join our team in Mittagong, NSW. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and supporting the smooth operation of our retail bakery. As a Sales Assistant, you will be at the heart of our business, creating positive customer experiences whilst maintaining the high standards that Baker's Delight is known for. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic retail environment where your contribution directly impacts our success.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and provide knowledgeable product recommendations to enhance their shopping experience

• Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale system

• Maintain a clean, organised and visually appealing store environment, including shelving and display areas

• Assist with stock replenishment, inventory management and receiving deliveries

• Handle cash and card payments with accuracy and in accordance with company procedures

• Respond to customer enquiries and resolve any issues with professionalism and courtesy

• Support promotional activities and ensure products are displayed attractively

• Maintain compliance with health and safety standards, including food safety regulations

• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations

• Assist with opening and closing procedures as required

What we're looking for

• Previous retail or customer service experience is advantageous but not essential

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for customer service

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining attention to detail

• Reliable, punctual and committed to maintaining professional standards

• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required

• Basic numeracy skills and comfort with handling cash and electronic payment systems

• A positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work as part of a team

• Food handling certification or willingness to obtain it is preferred
