Discipline Lead – Social Work (Academic Level D/E)

Lumera Institute is seeking an accomplished social work academic to provide discipline leadership for the development and accreditation of a new professional Master of Social Work degree. The Discipline Lead – Social Work will be the designated social work academic responsible for the program’s academic design, professional integrity, and accreditation readiness during Lumera’s establishment phase.

Working with Lumera’s academic leadership and course development team, you will guide the program from design through accreditation readiness, ensuring it is evidence-informed, culturally safe, professionally relevant and aligned with the Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS) 2024.

About you

You will be a social work qualified academic with the standing and collaborative leadership needed to develop and promote the discipline and its teaching program. You will bring:

• A recognised professional social work qualification with current membership of, or eligibility for membership of, the Australian Association of Social Workers;

• A minimum doctoral qualification in social work or a closely related field;

• Appointment at, or a record commensurate with, Academic Level D or E during the establishment phase;

• A strong record of professional social work experience and expertise;

• A recognised and ongoing record of social work scholarship, research and publication;

• Substantial experience in social work curriculum design, assessment and academic quality assurance;

• A detailed knowledge of ASWEAS and experience contributing to, or preferably leading, professional course accreditation;

• The ability to lead an academic team and contribute confidently to academic governance; and

• A demonstrated commitment to culturally safe education, social justice, ethical practice and meaningful stakeholder co-design.
