Graduate Research Officer- ADA

• Remuneration Level 6: $108k- $115k + 17% Superannuation
• Location: Kensington, NSW (hybrid flexibility to work from home and on campus with a requirement to be on campus when required)
• Fixed Term contract until February 2027
• Part- Time (4 days: 28 hour week)

Why The Role Matters:
The ADA Faculty Research Office is responsible for the implementation of the Faculty’s research strategy. This includes improving and maintaining research performance, leading, and contributing to research culture, assisting with reporting and adherence to external policies and regulations, and providing consistent and effective support and guidance to academic staff and Higher Degree Researchers (HDR). A Graduate Research Officer (GRO) plays a key role in coordinating higher degree research administration within the Faculty of Arts. Design & Architecture. The role has an emphasis on enhancing student experience and is a lead contributor to a culture of continuous improvement in HDR coordination. This position ensures that HDR student administration is carried out accurately and efficiently, with a focus on excellence.

Accountabilities:

• Coordinate and manage all aspects of HDR administration practices and reporting systems for assigned Schools and/or Centres, delivering an efficient support service to students, supervising academics and postgraduate coordinators, across the HDR candidate lifecycle.
• Plan, develop and maintain administrative procedures and processes for admissions, enrolment and candidature management in the relevant Schools/Centres.
• Assist in the implementation of policies, guidelines and procedures, and play a leading role in their application to ensure the effective operation of Research Progress Reviews.
• Set priorities and monitor workflows within the administrative team as required, providing support to the other Graduate Research Officers, and guidance to other relevant staff.
• Act as the primary contact for key internal and external stakeholders, maintaining effective channels of communication, analysing requests and correspondence to prioritise tasks as well as urgent and often sensitive matters.
• Review and monitor funding and resource allocation requests, including but not limited to, on campus study spaces in Faculty buildings, laptops and peripherals, desktop computers, printing and storage facilities, faculty HDR funding scheme applications.
• Provide secretarial support to the Higher Degree Research Committee meeting and other meetings as required.
• Provide support in the delivery of ADA Graduate Research projects, including development and delivery of induction workshops, events and other initiatives to enhance the student experience.
• Oversee and ensure timely and accurate processing of higher degree research administration tasks as required.

Skills & Experience:
All candidates will hold the following skills and experience:
To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

• Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience and/or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
• Demonstrated experience providing effective customer service and support to clients at all levels.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, influence and guide staff.
• Highly advanced interpersonal, and written and oral communication, skills including ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
• Ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate projects and tasks.
• Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent numeracy skills with the ability to understand and communicate financial information and monitor budgets.

This role could particularly suit a recent HDR candidate or strong administrator with existing insight into UNSW practices. Bringing strong organisation and communication skills you will leverage existing HDR polices and workflow procedures.
