CNC Lathe Operator / Setter

About the role

Datco Industries is seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Lathe Operator / Setter to join our manufacturing team. This is a full-time position based at our facility in Carrum Downs, VIC 3201. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and setting up CNC lathe machines to produce precision components according to specifications. You will play a crucial part in maintaining our production schedules and ensuring the highest quality standards are met. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern machining equipment and contribute to the successful delivery of our clients' projects.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and configure CNC lathe machines

• Experience on lathes with live tooling is essential.

• Supervise machines during operation and adjust as needed for optimal results

• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery to ensure optimal performance

• Inspect finished components for quality, accuracy and defects using precision measuring tools

What we're looking for

• Proven experience operating and setting up CNC lathe machines in a manufacturing environment

• Strong understanding of technical drawings

• Competency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometres, calipers and gauges

• Knowledge of machining techniques, cutting tools and materials

• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation of production activities

• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and accuracy

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

• Relevant machining or engineering qualifications or certifications are advantageous

• Experiece with Mastercam would be an advantage
