Truck Driver

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Truck Driver to join our team at our Malaga depot in Perth, Western Australia. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our distribution operations, ensuring goods are transported safely and efficiently to our customers across the region. As a Truck Driver, you will be the face of New West Foods WA P/L on the road, maintaining our reputation for reliability whilst adhering to all safety regulations and company standards. This role offers the opportunity to work independently whilst being part of a supportive team environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate trucks safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws, road regulations and company policies

• Transport goods to designated locations within agreed timeframes, ensuring safe and secure delivery

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical soundness and report any issues promptly

• Maintain accurate logbooks and delivery documentation in accordance with legal requirements

• Manually load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing and correct handling of goods

• Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch and management regarding deliveries and any issues encountered

• Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle, both interior and exterior

• Comply with fatigue management laws and take appropriate breaks as required

• Assist with other duties as directed by management to support operational efficiency

What we're looking for

• Current and valid HR or LR truck driver's licence appropriate for the role requirements

• Minimum of 2 years' professional truck driving experience in road transport or logistics

• Clean driving record with a commitment to safe driving practices and zero tolerance for traffic violations

• Strong knowledge of traffic laws, road regulations and fatigue management legislation

• Excellent mechanical knowledge and ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance and inspections

• Reliable, punctual and professional attitude with strong work ethic

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules

• Good communication and interpersonal skills with customers and team members

• Physical fitness to perform loading and unloading duties

• Willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development as required

• Desirable: National Police Clearance and experience with modern fleet management systems
