Coordinator

Burdekin is an independent not-for-profit organisation working with young people and their families to prevent homelessness, provide safe housing, and support wellbeing. We’re currently recruiting for two Coordinator positions within our Client Services team:

• OOHC Coordinator - providing leadership and operational oversight across our Out of Home Care services.
• Supported Family Group Home (SFGH) Coordinator - providing leadership across our SFGH program, with a particular focus on developing and supporting our carer network.

Both positions report to a Regional Manager and are responsible for leading a team. While the core responsibilities are similar, each position has a different service focus. The OOHC Coordinator will manage a team of Team Leaders to ensure our homes are safe, appropriately staffed, compliant and delivering high-quality support. The SFGH Coordinator will also manage a team, but will have an additional focus on carer attraction, assessment, training, retention and support, alongside the continued development of the SFGH program.

• Coach, guide and develop Team Leaders to deliver high-quality, client-focused services.
• Support Team Leaders with staffing, rosters, labour budgets and workforce planning.
• Manage and support the resolution of incidents and escalations.
• Work collaboratively with Case Management, Therapeutic Specialists and other teams to manage client risk and support positive outcomes.
• Conduct regular service audits and reviews and drive continuous improvement.
• Build productive relationships with government, community organisations and other key stakeholders.
• Contribute to the recruitment, development, assessment, training and ongoing support of SFGH carers.
• Support carer retention and wellbeing and help build a strong local carer community.
• Assist with the matching and placement of young people with carers and support staff.
• Ensure carer assessments, reviews, records and registers meet organisational and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in Burdekin’s after-hours on-call service as required.

• A degree in Social Work or another relevant tertiary qualification, or a Diploma with a minimum of four years experience in the community services sector.
• Experience leading a team in child protection, out-of-home care, or a similar environment.
• Strong understanding of child welfare legislation and out-of-home care.
• Case Management experience highly valued.
• Valid WWCC and NPC or willing to obtain.
• Current Driver’s Licence and access to vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
• Willing to participate in the after-hours on-call roster.
