About the role
The Executive Officer is responsible for providing executive level governance and operational support to AHCDO and the Executive Committee, which includes executive support to the Executive Committee, human resources management, financial management, and committee management.
Key responsibilities
Manage AHCDO Governance and Compliance obligations including ensuring AHCDO complies with Commonwealth and State regulatory and legislative requirements, managing the Annual General Meeting, managing all AHCDO contracts, and implementing policies and procedures
Provide high quality administrative and executive support to AHCDO including managing delivery of the Funding and Services Agreement with National Blood Authority, serving as primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, and managing the practical operations of the AHCDO Office
Develop policy frameworks based on defined priorities and develop new Position Statements identified by AHCDO Executive Committee
Ensure AHCDO meets its employment obligations, develop and implement AHCDO Annual HR Plan, and recruit, supervise and manage AHCDO employees
Manage financial operations of $2 million budget including 4 bank accounts and accounts payable and receivable, prepare financial reports for Executive Committee Meetings, and prepare Annual Financial Statements
Manage Executive Committee by providing executive level support, undertaking Secretary role, and actioning business arising from Executive Committee meetings
Develop strong working relationships with AHCDO stakeholders by identifying stakeholders, developing Annual Plan for maintaining effective working relationships, and attending meetings with stakeholders
About you
Relevant tertiary qualifications with at least four years' relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant skills, knowledge and experience
Demonstrated high-level organisational and administrative skills with the ability to undertake tasks and projects in line with existing policy, providing financial, policy and planning advice when necessary, and the ability to exercise high level diagnostic and problem solving skills
Proven track record in overseeing the flow of information and work in a busy office environment, and experience in the supervision of senior staff
Demonstrated high level of computer literacy and competency, and ability to use a range of software, including financial management systems to manage information and prepare documentation
Demonstrated ability to develop policy and procedures, undertake research and prepare and present papers/reports, and to provide executive support to committees
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills particularly in relation to communication with a diverse range of stakeholders and external agencies
The ability to work autonomously to organise your own workload to achieve accurate and complete outcomes, using strong attention to detail skills
Commitment to privacy and confidentiality
Experience in a medical field or health services / academic research context (desirable)

AHCDO is the national medical body for haemophilia in Australia.
AHCDO's objectives are
to advance care and treatment of people with haemophilia in Australia;
to advance the education of the medical profession and the broad range of health professionals associated with people with haemophilia in the knowledge of haemophilia and its treatment;
to promote haemophilia research, and to disseminate the results of such research;
and to liaise with, and provide information and advice to Haemophilia Foundation Australia, Federal, State and Territory Governments, and other such bodies involved in the welfare of people with haemophilia in Australia.
AHCDO is a not-for-profit organisation and was incorporated in Victoria in January 2001 under the Associations Incorporation Act. It operates as a national organisation from offices in metropolitan Melbourne and membership consists of the medical directors of Haemophilia Treatment Centres and other clinicians actively involved in the treatment of people with bleeding disorders.
