Task & responsibilities Read and interpret construction plans, drawings and specifications to determine materials, dimensions and installation procedures. Measure, cut, shape and assemble timber and other construction materials using appropriate hand and power tools. Construct and erect timber frames and structural components for residential and commercial buildings.

Build and install roof structures, including rafters, trusses, beams and associated roof framing. Construct and install floors and supporting timber structures, including joists, bearers and posts. Construct and install timber structures including extensions, carports, decks, pergolas and other residential and commercial structures.

Installing and repairing exterior wall cladding, including timber, cement-based and composite cladding materials. Constructing and installing timber structures and fittings in accordance with plans, specifications and building requirements. Install exterior wall cladding, including timber, cement-based and composite cladding materials.

Install, repair and replace doors and associated timber frames and fittings. Repair, replace, reinforce and renovate existing roofs, decks, pergolas, doors and other timber structures and fittings. Assemble prepared timber components to construct structural frameworks, fittings and other timber structures.

Select, order and prepare appropriate timber and construction materials, and set out working layouts prior to measuring, cutting and assembling, in accordance with project specifications. Inspect, verify and reinforce timber frameworks and structural components to ensure accurate alignment, structural trueness and secure installation. Maintain and repair timber structures and fittings as required.

  Qualification & experience AQF Certificate III in Carpentry (including at least two years of on-the-job training) or AQF Certificate IV. 1 to 2 years of practical experience in residential and/or commercial carpentry. Sound knowledge of carpentry techniques, timber framing, construction materials, and the safe use of hand and power tools.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications. Experience in measuring, cutting, assembling and installing timber components, including wall, floor and roof framing. White Card (Construction Induction Card) and commitment to WHS practices required.
