Female Disability Support Worker (casual) – MS Experience

We are seeking a caring, reliable and experienced female Disability Support Worker to provide support to a woman living with multiple sclerosis (MS). 

The ideal applicant will understand the fluctuating physical, cognitive and emotional effects of MS. She will be passionate about cooking, social activities and outings, take pride in maintaining a clean and organised home, and be comfortable around cats.

Due to the participant’s personal-care and privacy requirements, a female support worker is required.

Roster:

Week 1

• Monday, Friday - 9:30 AM – 7:30 PM
• Saturday 4:30 PM – 9:30 PM
• Sunday 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Week 2

• Monday, Tuesday, Friday 9:30 AM – 7:30 PM
• Saturday 4:30 PM – 9:30 PM

About you

To be successful, you will have:

• Demonstrated experience supporting a person living with multiple sclerosis or a comparable neurological and physical disability.
• Sound knowledge of how MS may affect fatigue, mobility, balance, cognition, strength and daily functioning.
• A calm, patient and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt support according to how the participant is feeling each day.
• A genuine passion for cooking and confidence preparing a range of nutritious meals.
• A strong commitment to cleanliness and maintaining a comfortable, organised home.
• An outgoing personality and genuine enjoyment of social activities and community outings.
• A love of cats and confidence working in a home where cats are part of the family.
• Excellent communication, observation and documentation skills.
• Reliability, punctuality and the ability to commit consistently to agreed shifts.
• Strong professional boundaries and respect for dignity, choice, confidentiality and privacy.

Essential requirements

• Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You, or willingness to complete it before commencing.
• Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability or a related qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Full Australian working rights.
• Ability to safely undertake the inherent physical requirements of the role.
• Willingness to complete participant-specific training, including manual handling training where required.
• Satisfactory professional reference checks.
