Specialist-Dispatch/Routing

SCOPE: Highly specialized work involving the scheduling, routing, and dispatching of school buses for the transport of students to and from various destinations. To perform district-based duties associated processing all critical radio communication as required to coordinate safe student transportation, reschedule, and assign bus routes as required. Assign and redirect field trips as required. Serves as primary coordinators for all accidents, incidents, breakdowns, unassigned routes, medical and/or student discipline and emergencies. Ensure compliance with district policies and procedures in a fast paced, high-volume communications center. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: REQUIRED: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Ability to use standard office equipment is required. • Knowledge of word processing and data entry applications as well as general office technology as related to specific job functions. PREFERRED/DESIRED: • Five (5) years previous school bus driver or bus routing experience. • Two (2) years of training in a transportation or public emergency response related setting may substitute for routing experience. • Knowledge of the Brevard County area. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: REQUIRED: • Valid State Driver’s license. PREFERRED/DESIRED: • Valid CDL driver’s license with P and S endorsements
