About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on and solutions-focused Maintenance Technician to join our Packaging team.
Working closely with Production and Operations Managers, you will play a critical role in maintaining equipment and production systems across multiple sites. You will help drive continuous improvement initiatives, reduce downtime, improve efficiency and support production teams to achieve operational goals.
This is a varied role that combines technical maintenance expertise with leadership responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with their hands and leading teams when required.
What You'll Do
Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
Develop, implement and maintain preventative maintenance schedules across multiple sites
Respond to equipment breakdowns and maintenance issues to minimise operational disruption
Identify hazards, risks and opportunities for improvement
Assist with the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles
Manufacture or fabricate tooling, fixtures and equipment to support operational improvements
Develop and maintain lock-out/tag-out procedures
Establish and maintain critical spare parts inventories
Provide technical support and advice to managers and supervisors
Assist with site layouts, warehouse improvements and production line setups
Support logistics and warehousing process improvements
Production Supervision
Provide direct supervision and leadership to production teams when required
Support daily production activities to ensure safety, quality and productivity targets are achieved
Allocate work effectively and support team performance
Foster a positive, collaborative and safety-focused workplace culture
Support staff development through coaching, guidance and leadership
Safety & Quality
Promote a strong workplace health and safety culture
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with organisational policies and legislative requirements
Participate in incident reporting, risk management and continuous improvement activities
Monitor operational performance and contribute to quality improvement initiatives including input on ISO and HACCAP activities
About You
You are a practical and proactive maintenance technician who enjoys finding solutions, improving systems and supporting teams to succeed.
You will bring:
Demonstrated experience in a maintenance, production, manufacturing or industrial environment
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Experience coordinating preventative maintenance programs
Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and 5S
The ability to prioritise competing demands and manage multiple projects
Strong communication and leadership skills
A commitment to workplace safety and operational excellence
Experience supervising or leading teams will be highly regarded
What You'll Bring (Clearances & Training)
To be successful in this role, you will have or be willing to obtain:
Significant experience in a similar maintenance or production environment
Trade qualification relevant to the role (desirable), such as:
- Welder/Fabricator
- Mechanical Fitter
- Or a similar trade qualification
Current First Aid Certificate
Current NDIS Worker Check
National Police Check
Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
Current Australian Driver's Licence
Willingness to travel to regional sites as required
Ability to participate in occasional out-of-hours work when necessary
