About the role
Live local, work the Basin. Even time roster, accommodation and meals covered on swing, home half the year.
P.I. Technical Services is a Mackay-based electrical contractor working across the Bowen Basin mining sector. We do new builds, overhauls of explosion-protected and IP-rated equipment, and site-based field services.
We’re looking for someone to run our field service work. You’ll win the jobs, price them, and deliver them on site. Reporting to the Managing Director, you’ll have the workshop, engineering and estimating support of the wider company behind you, and you’ll have a real say in how the field service side of the business grows.
This is a field-based role. Most of your time will be on client sites across the Bowen Basin, with the Mackay workshop as your base for quoting, planning and client meetings.
• Build client relationships and bring in field service work
• Scope, estimate and quote site jobs, and manage variations
• Plan and supervise onsite construction, installation and service work
• Supervise and mentor a team of site electricians, and coordinate labour, materials, plant and subbies
• Look after site safety, quality and compliance
• Keep jobs on time and on budget, and keep clients in the loop
The role runs on an even time roster. Accommodation and meals are provided while you're on site, and you're home for the other half.
You’re a qualified electrician who has run site work or supervised crews, or you’re clearly ready to step up. Mining experience is welcome but not essential. We’re just as interested in people from commercial construction, building services, infrastructure, renewables or heavy industry. The mining-specific side (inductions, Standard 11, site requirements) can be sorted after you start. What we can’t teach is the ability to run work, price it properly and deal with clients.
You’ll need:
• Electrical trade qualification and a current QLD electrical work licence
• Experience delivering electrical construction, installation or service work
• Experience supervising crews or running site works, or demonstrated readiness to
• Commercial awareness and the confidence to price work and talk to clients
• A current driver’s licence
• Ability to obtain coal industry inductions and pass site medicals
If you don’t tick every box but you believe you can make a difference in our organisation, we’d still encourage you to apply and tell us about the relevant skills and experience you bring.
• Lead a function and shape how it grows, backed by an established local contractor
• Even time roster: half the year at home
• Accommodation and meals provided while on site
• Tool-of-trade vehicle, phone & laptop/tablet
• Relocation assistance available if you’re moving to the region
• Attractive renumeration package
As an employer who embraces Equal Opportunity and promotes diversity, we encourage men and women of all ages and backgrounds, including Indigenous Australians, to apply.
