Manufacturing Trade Assistant

Southern Generators & Electrical is looking for a reliable and hands-on Manufacturing Trade Assistant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and wants to build a career in the generator and electrical installation industry.

Working closely with our qualified trades team, you will primarily assist with the permanent on-site installation of new generator sets, along with a variety of ancillary workshop and site-based tasks. This is an active, physical role suited to someone who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys learning on the job.

•          Assisting tradespeople with the installation and commissioning of new generator sets on customer sites

•          Preparing generator sets, enclosures, and associated equipment for installation

•          Supporting mechanical work under supervision

•          Loading, unloading, and positioning equipment safely on site

•          Assisting with fabrication, fitting, and minor mechanical tasks

•          General workshop duties including housekeeping, tool maintenance, and stock handling

•          Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with site and company procedures

•          Other ancillary duties as directed by supervisors and tradespeople

•          A strong work ethic and willingness to learn

•          Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions

•          Comfortable with manual handling and physical, hands-on work

•          Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious

•          Current driver's licence (essential) and truck licence would be desirable.

•          Previous experience would be well regarded in sheet metal fabrication and welding skills

•          Willingness to travel to customer sites as required

•          On-the-job training and mentoring from experienced tradespeople
