About the role
Sous Chef – Award-Winning Bangor Vineyard Restaurant
Mostly day shifts | Great lifestyle | Outstanding Tasmanian produce | Dunalley, Tasmania
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Sous Chef to join the team at Bangor Vineyard Shed – one of Tasmania's leading vineyard, cellar door and restaurant destinations.
If you're looking for a kitchen role where you can produce great food, work with exceptional local ingredients and still enjoy a life outside the kitchen, this could be the role for you.
Why you'll love working at Bangor
The role is predominantly day service, with occasional evening functions, offering a lifestyle that's increasingly hard to find in hospitality.
You'll work in our large, modern kitchen, built in 2022, alongside an experienced and supportive team, with access to some of Tasmania's outstanding produce and Bangor's award-winning wines.
And there's plenty of variety. Beyond our busy restaurant service, Bangor hosts wine dinners, weddings and functions, vineyard experiences, food and wine tastings, and other unique experiences across our spectacular property.
Full-time is preferred, although part-time arrangements will be considered for the right person. Temporary accommodation may also be available for someone relocating to the area.
About Bangor Vineyard Shed
Located at Dunalley, east of Hobart, Bangor Vineyard Shed is a family-owned vineyard, restaurant and cellar door overlooking the vines, farm and sea beyond.
We're proud to be a Tasmanian Tourism Hall of Fame inductee and multiple Australian Tourism Award winner, but what matters most to us is creating genuinely memorable food, wine and hospitality experiences for our guests.
Bangor combines award-winning Tasmanian wine with high-quality food showcasing fresh, seasonal and locally sourced produce.
We have a committed team, a supportive workplace and a wonderful local community of regular guests who make Bangor a special place to work.
About the role
Working closely with our Head Chef, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day leadership of the kitchen and help us continue to develop the food experience at Bangor.
You'll be involved with:
Delivering consistently high-quality food during busy daily service
Supporting and leading our kitchen team
Contributing to menu development showcasing the best Tasmanian produce
Weddings, functions and special food and wine events
Menu costing and food-cost management
Kitchen systems, processes and efficiencies
Rostering and staff development
Stock control, ordering and deliveries
Food safety and kitchen compliance
There is plenty of scope to contribute ideas and make your mark on the food offering at Bangor.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced chef who takes pride in what they do and enjoys being part of a positive, professional kitchen.
You'll ideally be:
A qualified chef with at least three years' commercial cookery experience
Passionate about producing excellent food from quality ingredients
Experienced in leading, training and motivating kitchen teams
Calm and organised in a busy service
Friendly, approachable and supportive in your leadership style
Commercially aware, with an understanding of food costs and waste
Comfortable catering for functions and events as well as à la carte service
A strong team player who values cooperation and respect
Interested in local produce, Tasmanian food and wine, and creating memorable guest experiences
Above all, we're looking for someone who wants to be part of the team rather than simply turn up for a shift.
Come and join our award-winning team in one of Tasmania's most beautiful locations.
If you're an experienced chef looking for your next opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply through SEEK with your CV and a short introduction telling us a little about yourself and why Bangor appeals to you.
