About the Role:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environmental and Sustainability Program Specialist to join our Health, Safety and Sustainability team in a full time and permanent role based at our Melbourne CBD head office.

This role will provide expert advice and lead environmental, sustainability, compliance, and climate-related programs across the organisation. Partnering with operational teams, project managers, regulators, and external specialists, you will drive initiatives that reduce risk, support compliance, and deliver sustainable business outcomes.

In addition, you will lead key environmental programs, support climate reporting and emissions reduction initiatives, and provide practical guidance on environmental risk and compliance. You will play a critical role in ensuring environmental obligations are met while driving continuous improvement and sustainability performance across the business.

This role requires occasional travel to various sites across our network.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of environmental and sustainability programs across the organisation.
• Provide specialist environmental expertise across areas including land contamination, asbestos management, PCB management, environmental risk, and climate-related initiatives.
• Develop, implement, and maintain environmental standards, procedures, assurance frameworks, and compliance programs.
• Coordinate environmental risk management activities, including risk registers, assurance audits, performance monitoring, and corrective action management.
• Lead environmental compliance and risk reduction initiatives, including environmental capital programs and land contamination management activities.
• Support climate-related reporting, greenhouse gas emissions management, climate risk assessment, and emissions reduction initiatives.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with business stakeholders, regulators, consultants, and service providers to support environmental outcomes.
• Deliver practical environmental advice, training, and guidance while contributing to governance forums and continuous improvement initiatives.

To succeed in this role you will have:

• A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in environmental and/or sustainability roles within utilities, infrastructure, construction, resources, or similar industries.
• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, compliance obligations, environmental management systems, and risk management frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience managing environmental programs, including land contamination, asbestos management, environmental assurance, and environmental risk initiatives.
• Knowledge and practical experience in climate-related reporting, greenhouse gas accounting, emissions management, and sustainability reporting requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical matters into practical business advice.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on identifying risks, driving compliance, and delivering continuous improvement outcomes.
• Proven experience working with regulators, consultants, and cross-functional stakeholders to achieve environmental and sustainability objectives.
