About the role
Mullum Mullum Aboriginal Gathering Place (MMAGP) is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner – Justice Support Program to join our growing team.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new Aboriginal-led Justice Support Program providing culturally safe, intensive support to Aboriginal people across Melbourne's eastern metropolitan region who are on bail, on remand or transitioning from custody back into community.
The Senior Practitioner will provide intensive, culturally safe and trauma-informed case management to participants with complex support needs.
Working closely with the Justice Support Program Coordinator and broader team, you will undertake comprehensive assessment and case planning, coordinate referrals, provide advocacy and practical assistance, and support participants to address barriers that may impact their ability to successfully engage with bail conditions and transition back into community.
Post-bail and transition support will focus on meeting immediate and longer-term needs, including connection to:
The Senior Practitioner will manage more complex and higher-risk matters and provide practice guidance and support to other Justice Support Practitioners where required.
We are looking for someone with strong case management skills and trauma informed who understands the complexity of working with people involved in the justice system and can build genuine, respectful relationships with Aboriginal community.
You will have experience in justice, case management, family services, homelessness, alcohol and other drugs, mental health or a related community services field, together with demonstrated skills in assessment, case planning, advocacy, risk management and working collaboratively with other services.
You will be committed to Aboriginal self-determination and delivering support that is culturally safe, strengths-based, trauma-informed and responsive to the individual needs of participants.
Mullum Mullum Aboriginal Gathering Place is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Melbourne's eastern metropolitan region.
